Yateí, the cure is in the jungle is a transmedia project that combines two narrative formats—a linear documentary and a documentary video game—to tell the same story from different perspectives. This comprehensive proposal explores the interdependence between the Guaraní people, the Yateí bee, and the Misiones jungle, at a time when the ecosystem is threatened by deforestation and agro-industrial expansion.

The transmedia experience allows immersion into the world of Yateí through two complementary approaches:

  • Through the documentary, which narrates the struggle of scientists, Guaraní communities, and farmers to preserve the jungle and ancestral knowledge.
  • Through the documentary video game, which transforms this story into an interactive experience where players actively participate in the regeneration of the ecosystem.

Both formats work together to raise environmental and social awareness, appealing to both emotion and action.

2. The Story: A Tale in Two Formats

Unified Narrative
The Misiones jungle hides ancient secrets. Since ancestral times, the Guaraní have protected Yateí, a stingless bee whose honey has medicinal and spiritual properties. But today, its existence is at risk.

As the jungle is destroyed, Yateí loses its home, and its role as a pollinator is threatened. In response, the Guaraní, scientists, and producers have joined forces to find sustainable solutions.

This transmedia project invites audiences to experience this story from two angles: observing and listening in the documentary, and exploring and acting in the video game.

This project aims to raise awareness among diverse audiences about the importance of environmental conservation through an accessible and innovative approach. Our primary target audiences include:

  • Film and documentary festivals interested in environmental narratives and indigenous rights.
